Croydon Festive Bin Collection Changes: Full Christmas & New Year Timetable
Croydon Christmas bin collection changes confirmed

Residents in Croydon are being advised of significant changes to their regular waste and recycling collection schedules over the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays. The council has released a detailed revised timetable to account for the public holidays, ensuring services continue with minimal disruption.

Revised Collection Dates for the Festive Period

The alterations affect collections falling on and around the bank holidays. Collections originally scheduled for Christmas Day, Thursday 25 December, will now take place on Saturday 27 December. Similarly, bins due for pickup on Boxing Day, Friday 26 December, will be collected three days later on Monday 29 December.

For the following week, services will also be delayed. Collections planned for Monday 29 December and Tuesday 30 December will be picked up one day later than usual. A more substantial shift will occur for collections from Wednesday 31 December through to Friday 2 January, which will be collected two days later than their normal scheduled day.

Notably, rubbish and recycling due on Friday 2 January will actually be collected three days later. The knock-on effect continues into the following week, with all collections from Monday 5 January to Friday 9 January taking place one day later. The council has confirmed that normal collection schedules will fully resume from Monday 12 January 2026.

Christmas Tree Recycling Services

In addition to the revised bin collections, Croydon Council is operating a dedicated Christmas tree disposal service. This will run from Monday 5 January to Friday 16 January. Residents wishing to use this service must place their real tree out by 6am on 5 January, ensuring all decorations, tinsel, and stands are removed. The tree should also be taken out of its pot.

The council has stated that trees will be collected as soon as possible from the start date onwards. For those who prefer to drop off their tree, genuine Christmas trees can be recycled free of charge at any of the borough's three household reuse and recycling centres.

Household Recycling Centre Locations

  • Factory Lane, West Croydon CR0 3RL
  • Fishers Farm, North Downs Road, New Addington CR0 0LB
  • Purley Oaks, Brighton Road, South Croydon CR8 2BG

Furthermore, households subscribed to Croydon's garden waste collection service have a convenient alternative. They can chop their Christmas tree into smaller pieces and place it inside their garden waste bin for collection on their scheduled day.

The council encourages all residents to take note of the changes to avoid missed collections and to utilise the provided recycling services to ensure a sustainable start to the new year.
