West End Gas Leak: 40 Evacuated, Road Closed Till Morning

London Fire Brigade (LFB) have evacuated 40 residents from their homes following a gas leak in London's West End. A 50-metre cordon has been established after firefighters responded to a gas leak on Stacey Street, near the junction of Shaftesbury Avenue.

Incident Details

Station Commander Daniel Perrett, who is at the scene, stated: "Crews are working with partners to isolate a gas main which has ruptured and make the scene safe." He added: "The incident is expected to be protracted and continue into the morning. There are road closures in place, which are causing some disruption. We encourage people to avoid the area where possible."

A rest centre has been set up to support affected local residents while emergency services work to resolve the situation.
