The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms across large parts of the UK, but London is very narrowly missed, and skies are set to remain more or less clear, according to the forecaster.
London Escapes the Warning While Surrounding Areas Are Included
Over the next four days, London is expected to remain relatively dry compared to large swathes of the UK covered by the Met Office's latest thunderstorm warning. The warning is set to last from 11am until 11.59pm on Sunday, August 30, and will bring up to 30mm of rain to other regions in the country.
While London won't be hit by the yellow weather warning, areas around the capital, such as Bracknell Forest, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire, Reading, Southampton, West Berkshire, Windsor and Maidenhead and Wokingham have been included in the warning.
Forecast Details: Rain, Hail, and Wind Gusts
The predictor has said: "Showers, heavy and thundery, will reach southwest England and Wales later Sunday morning, before spreading and developing more widely during the afternoon. Whilst some areas will miss the heaviest showers, where they do occur 10-15 mm of rain is possible in less than an hour, with 30-40 mm possible over several hours, these larger totals most likely for parts of north and northwest England and southwest Scotland."
"Hail, frequent lightning and, in southern parts of England and Wales, wind gusts of 35-45 mph will be additional hazards. Heaviest showers and thunderstorms will become more isolated later in the evening."
London's Bank Holiday Outlook
However, within the capital, while there is a slight chance of rain for this bank holiday weekend, no yellow weather warning has been issued for the country. The forecaster has predicted that Sunday will see highs of 21C with a 40% chance of rain at 12pm.

The forecast for Monday, August 31, is a fine start with sunny spells, some showers developing, and the possibility of a heavy, thundery shower. From Tuesday onwards, a few showers are predicted, with a windy Wednesday and some outbreaks of rain.
