Exclusive pop-up shop opens in Fitzrovia
System of a Down fans can visit an exclusive pop-up shop in London this week, selling city-themed merchandise ahead of the band's two massive concerts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The store, located at 56-57 Eastcastle Street (W1W 8EQ) near Oxford Circus station, opens from Friday, July 10, to Thursday, July 16, running daily from 10am to 8pm, with reduced hours of 11am to 5pm on Sunday, July 12.
Rare London performances
The nu-metal legends will perform on Monday, July 13, and Wednesday, July 15, marking their first UK shows since 2015. Supported by Queens of the Stone Age and Acid Bath, the events are described as a heavy metal occurrence as rare as a lunar eclipse.
Unique merchandise including Hummel football tops
The pop-up store offers one-off merchandise celebrating System of a Down's return to the UK, including t-shirts, hoodies, track jackets, jerseys, shorts, and signature football tops in collaboration with sportswear brand Hummel. Additionally, a commemorative poster and a London-exclusive coloured 'Toxicity' vinyl will be available, produced specifically for this tour stop.
Band history and legacy
Formed in Glendale, California, in 1994 by Armenian-Americans Serj Tankian and Daron Malakian, the classic line-up was completed in 1997 with drummer John Dolmayan. The band blends heavy metal, punk, and Armenian folk music with unpredictable melodies and strong political messaging. Their 1998 self-titled debut album featured hits "Sugar" and "Spiders," but their 2001 album "Toxicity" reached number one in the US and Canada, with singles "Chop Suey!," "Toxicity," and "Aerials" cementing their reputation.
