A walking trail through Kensington and Mayfair is drawing influencers and tourists to London's poshest neighbourhoods, where properties and businesses have installed elaborate Halloween displays. The unofficial route, mapped by a social media user, highlights the most impressively decorated homes in the area.
Trail route through Kensington
The route starts at Kensington High Street and takes in Ilchester Place, Abbotsbury Road, Holland Park, Argyll Road, Upper Phillimore Gardens, Victoria Road, The Little Boltons, and Tregunter Road. Properties along the way are adorned with skulls, bats, witches, spiders, and pumpkins.
Visiting influencer Christina GL, 35, said: "I came for Halloween for the pictures. It is very nice and beautiful here. I just want to take a picture for my Instagram. It is amazing. Some of them are scary. I have never seen it like that. This year is so different from other years. I think everybody has to come here to take a picture."
Annabel's Mayfair installation
Also drawing considerable crowds is the rat-infested pumpkin installation outside Annabel's in Mayfair. The prestigious private members' club has long been celebrated for its lavish seasonal décor, and this year's ghoulish spectacle has taken social media by storm.
The display features a colossal haunted pumpkin carriage with vintage wheels, sinister black rats with glowing red eyes, ravens, sprawling overgrown foliage, and a giant rat dramatically bursting forth from the building.
Residents have pulled out all the stops for this year's frightful festivities, with the displays attracting plenty of attention from visitors seeking selfies and photos.
