Phoebe Bridgers cancels London show due to appendicitis

Phoebe Bridgers has cancelled her intimate string of UK concert dates after being admitted to hospital with appendicitis. The singer was due to perform a phone-free set at Circuit in Kingston tonight (Wednesday, August 19) in celebration of her long-awaited third album Lost Weekend.

Singer shares hospital update

Taking to Instagram at 7am this morning, the Californian revealed she had been admitted to hospital with inflammation of the appendix. "I got appendicitis for my birthday," she wrote in a post shared from her bed, with a visible drip in her arm. "Everything in the UK this week will have to move but I'll make it up to you!!!!," Phoebe added, looking unwell in a hoodie.

Shows in Brighton (August 20) and Bristol (August 21) will not be going ahead either following the health update. Each of the small gigs were sold out, with fans snapping up tickets alongside the purchase of CDs and vinyl records. It is currently unclear when they will be rescheduled.

Organisers respond to cancellations

Banquet Records, who organised the London event, said they are working closely with Phoebe's global teams and will provide an update as soon as possible. News of the cancellations has left ticketholders disappointed, including those who had already booked their train travel.

However, the Boygenius member recently announced a two-night stint at The O2, giving fans another chance to see new songs such as Lost Boys and The Governor's Waltz, the latter of which is thought to be about ex-partner Paul Mescal and his new girlfriend Gracie Abrams. The shows are taking place on December 1 and 2 and will also be phone free. Digital devices, including smartwatches, will be put in secure pouches and stored until the conclusion of the concert. Fans who are caught recording will be escorted out of the venue, according to The O2. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster and AXS — though are selling fast.

Recent appearances

Phoebe was papped days before she became unwell at a star-studded wedding outside Bath. She was pictured celebrating the nuptials of mixing engineer Oli Jacobs and audio engineer Laura Sisk alongside Sabrina Carpenter, Jack Antonoff, and The 1975's George Daniel.
