Major Artists Unite for Trans Rights at Wembley

All-Star Lineup for Trans Rights Charity Concert at Wembley

Some of Britain's biggest music acts are uniting for a landmark charity concert in support of trans rights at London's OVO Arena Wembley next spring. Organised by singer Olly Alexander and the team behind Mighty Hoopla festival, Trans Mission will bring together an impressive roster of artists and public figures to raise funds and awareness for the trans community.

Star-Studded Performances and Special Appearances

The concert will feature performances from multiple chart-topping artists including Sugababes, Wolf Alice, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Christine and the Queens, Beth Ditto, Beverley Knight, and Romy. They'll be joined by emerging talents such as Jasmine.4.T, Kae Tempest, Bimini, and Adam Lambert, creating one of the most diverse lineups seen at the venue.

Beyond the musical performances, the event will include appearances from prominent figures across entertainment and politics. Acting legend Ian McKellen will share the stage with Green party leader Zack Polanski, comedian Grace Campbell, author Shon Faye, and model-activist Munroe Bergdorf. The presence of Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan and actors Russell Tovey and Mawaan Rizwan further demonstrates the widespread support from the acting community.

Fighting Back Against Discrimination

Organisers have positioned the event as a direct response to rising hate crimes and discrimination against trans people in the UK. In a powerful statement, Olly Alexander explained the motivation behind Trans Mission: "I believe that in these times, community action isn't just important – it's essential! We need real and lasting change. Through solidarity, creativity and collective fundraising, we can fight back against the politics of fear and exclusion."

The concert specifically references recent legal developments, including the UK supreme court's ruling on biological sex and subsequent Equality and Human Rights Commission guidance, which organisers say have contributed to increased discrimination.

Beneficiaries and Ticket Information

Proceeds from the event will support two key organisations: The Good Law Project, which uses legal challenges to push for governmental accountability, and trans-led charity Not a Phase. Good Law Project founder Jo Maugham expressed pride in being involved, stating: "To be trans is to celebrate the infinite possibility of the human condition – this amazing lineup is testimony to trans artists' creative genius."

Trans Mission takes place at OVO Arena Wembley on March 11, 2023. Tickets go on sale to the public at 10am GMT on December 2nd, starting from £28.50. The event promises to be both a celebration of trans creativity and a powerful statement of solidarity at a crucial time for LGBTQ+ rights in the UK.
