Liam Gallagher has given the strongest indication yet that Oasis may play more shows, after publicly urging his brother Noel Gallagher to announce the much-anticipated 2027 dates. In a post on X on Monday morning, the frontman wrote: 'Ffs RKID announce the tour we're all losing our minds.'
The message comes after the band's sold-out Oasis Live '25 reunion tour last year, their first in 16 years, which fueled speculation of further performances. Promoters behind the run were recently granted a licence to host gigs at Knebworth, with North Hertfordshire Council approving the application from SJM Concerts with immediate effect, according to BBC News. The licence permits SJM to host shows for 125,000 people, with events allowed to continue into the early hours.
Knebworth and Manchester residency rumours
While it has not been confirmed which artist or event the licence is for, rumours suggest Oasis are eyeing a return to Knebworth – the site of their two iconic concerts in 1996 – for a record-breaking six shows. Additionally, there are reports of a 12-night residency at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, the band's home city.
A source previously told The Sun: 'Oasis' schedule is booked. It's 12 nights at the Etihad over six weeks starting in June. They will then play Knebworth six times over a three-week period in September. Dates could be added but for now that's the master plan.'
No Glastonbury headline set
Despite being bookies' favourites, Liam has dismissed claims that Oasis will headline Glastonbury next year. In an expletive-filled response to a fan, he said: 'It's not happening. So all you croc wearing, flag waving, s**t c****s can calm the f**k down.' He also boasted: 'If we do any more gigs we're gonna lick it up to ras.'
Oasis have headlined Glastonbury twice before, in 1995 and 2004, but this is not the first time Liam has poured cold water on such rumours. Last year he responded to a post on X asking if they could headline the Pyramid Stage again, commenting: 'Hope not.' He later added: 'I like the other stages and the tents, but the main stage is like playing to a load of jamboree teachers. It's a load of divs dressed in Ty die clothes banging clogs and blowing up balloons all with psycho smiles and crusty eyes and red wine mouths.'
Noel Gallagher has also criticised the Somerset-based festival for 'virtue-signalling', claiming it was 'getting a bit woke now, that place, and a bit kind of preachy' on a podcast earlier this year. He played at Worthy Farm in 2022 with his band Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
Documentary and tour history
Next month, a documentary following the brothers on their Live 25 Tour will be released, premiering at the Venice Film Festival, with the brothers set to attend. Titled Oasis: Don't Look Back In Anger, it follows the Gallaghers across the tour that began in Cardiff in July last year. The film comes to cinemas on September 9 and also on Disney Plus, with the streaming service saying it will highlight the 'triumphant reunion tour' from rehearsals to backstage and onstage.
The documentary will also include the first joint interviews with Noel and Liam in over 20 years. The Oasis reunion tour was announced in August 2024, 15 years after the brothers' dramatic split in 2009, which was prompted by a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in France. The band have had eight number one singles and albums each in the UK charts, with Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova and Some Might Say among their best-known hits.
