Leona Lewis cancels Vegas show due to illness

British singing sensation Leona Lewis has shared her profound disappointment after being compelled to cancel a performance of her Las Vegas residency at the very last minute.

Show Cancelled Amid Health Battle

The 40-year-old artist, who shot to fame by winning The X Factor in 2006, posted an emotional statement to her social media followers. She revealed she had to pull the plug on her 'A Starry Night' show scheduled for Friday, 20th December 2025 at The Venetian Resort.

In her message, Lewis explained she had been 'battling a sore throat' for several days and attempted to persevere. However, her condition worsened, leading to the difficult decision to cancel. 'I will be spending this time recovering and on vocal rest so I can come back stronger,' she wrote, expressing she was 'truly so gutted' to let down fans.

Fan Support and Practical Details

The singer was swiftly met with an outpouring of support from devoted fans. Comments on her post wished her a speedy recovery, with many emphasising that her health was the priority, even when plans were disrupted.

Lewis provided clear instructions for affected ticket holders, directing them to contact info@voltairelv.com to organise either a refund or to reschedule for a later performance. Her residency, which began on 1st November, comprises 34 shows and is set to conclude on 3rd January 2026.

Vegas Legacy and Forthcoming Music

Prior to the residency's commencement, Lewis described the show as a deeply personal retrospective. 'This is not just a show. This is me sharing what I’ve been through,' she told The Sun, marking nearly two decades since her career launch. She also expressed pride in joining the ranks of British icons like Adele and Elton John with a Vegas residency.

In significant news for her music career, Lewis confirmed she is preparing to release her first new album in over a decade. Her last studio album, I Am, came out in 2015. She told US Weekly the record is inspired by the last ten years of her life, serving as an ode to her daughter and her younger self. 'It’s a really deeply connected album,' she said, with plans to finish it after her Vegas run ends.

The global star, who has sold over 35 million records worldwide, received encouragement for her Vegas venture from her former mentor, Simon Cowell, who she said has 'always had my back.'
