Justin Bieber's Major Coachella Comeback Amid Rainy Forecast
Justin Bieber is poised for a significant live performance comeback at this year's sold-out Coachella festival, with rainy weather threatening to be a potential spoiler. The Canadian singer will take on his largest live stage since he abruptly canceled his 2022 tour due to serious health concerns.
Health Struggles and Touring Fears
Bieber previously experienced "full paralysis" on one side of his face after being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, leading him to state, "I wish this wasn't the case but obviously my body is telling me I gotta slow down." Last year, he admitted that the idea of touring again felt "super daunting" and he had no immediate plans for an official tour. However, he reassured fans on Twitch, saying, "I'm putting on a hell of a show for you guys for Coachella, getting ready, and getting inspired."
Coachella 2026 Lineup and Details
The annual music festival, held in California's Coachella Valley, will welcome approximately 125,000 music enthusiasts daily across seven stages. Headliners include Sabrina Carpenter and Karol G, with other notable artists such as Moby, Geese, David Byrne, Addison Rae, the Strokes, Sombr, Iggy Pop, Ethel Cain, and Labrinth performing over two weekends. Tickets sold out in just three days, marking the second consecutive year of strong fan interest following sluggish sales in 2024.
Additional Festival Highlights
Coachella 2026 also features a comeback for The xx, who will perform their first major festival in eight years ahead of their first album since 2017. A surprise performance in Mexico City was recently announced as "the start of a next chapter together." Sabrina Carpenter, returning after her 2024 Coachella appearance, has promised her headlining set will be the "most ambitious" show she has ever done, noting in an interview with Marc Jacobs, "It's probably the most time I've ever had to actually just sit down and talk about a show as I'm building it."
Historic and Political Moments
On Sunday, Colombian singer Karol G will make history as Coachella's first-ever Latina headliner. She recently discussed being warned against making anti-ICE statements due to visa concerns, stating in a Playboy interview, "You become bait, because some people want to show their power." She added that while she is "willing to say" ICE out, "it's something that crosses the line of what I have to do to protect myself."
Schedule Changes and Weather Concerns
This week's schedule saw the surprise addition of Jack White, while no-shows include the punk duo Lambrini Girls after guitarist Phoebe Lunny announced an "acute brain injury" on Instagram. Girl group Katseye member Manon will also miss the festival as she remains on hiatus to "focus on her health and well-being." After last year's near-record temperatures of up to 102°F (39°C) led to increased heat-related hospital visits, this weekend faces the possibility of rain. Earlier reports of a potential thunderstorm have been downgraded, but the weather will still see a drastic shift from the 2025 highs.
