Good Omens fans are devastated after what many are calling the 'worst series finale of all time.' The long-awaited third season of the beloved Amazon Prime Video series dropped on May 13, 2026, at 8 am UK time, and viewers have already binge-watched the entire 90-minute special. Unfortunately, the reaction has been overwhelmingly negative.

How Does Good Omens Season 3 End?
In the season 3 finale, the Archangel Michael uses the Book of Life to destroy the universe. All that remains is the demon Crowley (David Tennant), the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen), and the Whickber Street bookshop. God and Satan also survive, seemingly content to spend eternity catching up with each other. Crowley and Aziraphale, however, are not satisfied with this outcome and convince God to reboot reality—this time without Heaven or Hell. Surprisingly, God agrees and uses her infinite power to restart everything, wiping out Crowley and Aziraphale in the process. In the new reality, a human Anthony Crowley stumbles across the bookshop, staffed by an equally human Asa Fell, and they fall in love.
Fan Reaction: Outrage and Disappointment
While the season has only been out for a few hours, the ending has sparked fury across social media and forums. On Reddit, user reindeergames666 wrote: 'Honestly, the worst ending, which so so soooo many viewers previously acknowledged would have been the worst possible thing to end the show on. I feel so annoyed and sad.' Another user, Puzzled-Dog-4960, agreed: 'They gave us the ending that was widely considered the worst, laziest, stupidest ending possible. But with a twist! Even the snow globe ending would have been better than this. Unreal how bad it is.'
User ShipNew1880 raged: 'What was that? So Aziraphale and Crowley's 6000 years don't amount to anything and they meet as new humans?? But this is worse than them turning into humans; at least they would have had their memories, but they are now new humans with no memories of their shared life.'
The fury extended to Twitter, where @999Wrdl said: 'I'm so damn disappointed with this ending, it's just like it's not the show I knew anymore. It feels like I ended up watching some other show, but it doesn't feel like Good Omens.' @fabledfool added: 'I think Good Omens is now the title holder for Worst Series Finale of all time.' @ofrassilon claimed: 'Good Omens 3 was kind of ass lmao I regret waking up at 3am to watch it.'
Defenders and Critics Weigh In
Despite the backlash, some fans defended the ending. @aka__allison said: 'personally I LOVED the good omens ending.' @issywilleddie called it 'actually perfect.' Critics were more divided; the season holds a 67% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Ed Power of the Daily Telegraph gave it four stars, praising 'the supernova of luvvydom that is the friendship between its stars.' Dais Johnston at Inverse wrote: 'It's the ending that this show, and this fandom, deserves.' However, many journalists, including this one, were unimpressed. In a two-star review, I called it 'pretty rubbish.'
Good Omens season 3 is available now on Amazon Prime Video.
