Emmerdale: Mack lures Ross to barn for violent revenge

A new Emmerdale spoiler video shows Mackenzie Boyd's (Lawrence Robb) simmering anger towards Ross Barton (Michael Parr) finally boiling over, leading to a violent confrontation that leaves Ross fighting for his life.

Mack's world shattered by Charity's revelation

Mack's life was turned upside down days ago when his wife Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) confessed to sleeping with Ross and giving birth to his child. Charity also revealed she was blackmailed and raped by Doctor Todd (Caroline Harker). Despite feeling betrayed, Mack has chosen to support Charity as police investigate the surgeon.

Lawrence Robb explained to us: 'I think there's maybe an element of them sticking a band-aid over it. Mack doesn't really get much time to deal with it because he immediately enters protection mode. So, whether that rears its head further on down the line, I don't know. But he doesn't have a lot of time to process it. Also, Sarah and Jacob don't know the truth yet. Inevitably that has to come to fruition somehow, somewhere. I guess that's up to the writers and producers to decide on how and when that happens and what the consequences will be.'

Betrayal by a friend cuts deep

One major struggle for Mack is pretending everything is normal around Ross. 'Mack feels deeply betrayed by him,' Lawrence said. 'They were becoming close friends, so learning that Ross knew about Leyla feels like a big betrayal. While he might understand Charity's motivations better due to his love for her, the betrayal from Ross is harder to reconcile. I think there's a lot of anger directed towards Ross – not so much because of the infidelity but because of the reality of Leyla's biological parentage.'

Lured to the barn

As a new week begins in the Dales, Mack's emotions rise to the surface. He lures Ross to a barn on Emmerdale Farm under the pretense of needing help moving bags. In the spoiler video, Ross senses something is off, as Mack doesn't really seem to need assistance. Mack claims he just wanted an excuse to hang out, but the atmosphere is tense and awkward, making Ross uncomfortable.

The confrontation escalates on the barn's mezzanine, where Mack violently shoves Ross, sending him falling to the ground below. Ross is left for dead, and the aftermath remains to be seen.
