The Victoria and Albert Museum has unveiled its 2027 exhibition programme for its London venues in Kensington and Stratford, with shows spanning 1970s subcultures to South Indian textiles and contemporary South Asian art.
V&A South Kensington 2027 exhibitions
The Sex Pistols, The Specials, Joy Division, Wham! – the story of Punk to Pop (Mar 13 2027-Jan 2 2028) explores how 1970s subcultures fueled the anti-establishment DIY punk aesthetic and its enduring influence on music, art, and fashion.
Sculpture in Clay (May 29 2027-Feb 6 2028) presents works from British ceramics artists from the 1980s to today, examining how clay expands the concept of sculpture. Featured artists include Jacqueline Poncelet, Antony Gormley, and Edmund de Waal.
Chintz (Sep 18 2027-Jun 4 2028) traces the 400-year history of the South Indian fabric, described by the V&A as 'loved, hated and continually rediscovered.' Fabrics from the museum's archive are joined by pieces from the collection of textiles collector Karun Thakar.
V&A East 2027 exhibitions
South Asia Now: Fashion. Art. Design. (Apr 24 2027-Jan 23 2028) at V&A East Museum delves into contemporary creative scenes of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka through 200 works of art, fashion, architecture, and design.
The V&A East Museum opened in April 2026 with a debut exhibition on Black British music. Its second show continues the venue's focus on diverse cultural narratives.
