The Guardian's picture editors have selected photographs from around the world for Friday, capturing a dramatic tunnel rescue in Nepal, a wedding proceeding despite floodwaters, and other striking images.
Nepal Tunnel Rescue and Flood Aftermath
In Rasuwa, Nepal, one of two workers was carried to safety after being pulled alive from a tunnel at the Trishuli-3A hydropower project, nine days after deadly flash floods. The rescue was documented by the Nepal Army via Reuters. Near Devighat, Nuwakot, a man took photographs of a devastated area along the Trishuli river after the same flash floods and a mudslide, as captured by Athit Perawongmetha/Reuters.
