Napoli on the Road, a London-based pizzeria with branches in Chiswick, Richmond and Soho, has been named the best pizza restaurant in Europe for the third consecutive year at the 50 Top Pizza Europa 2026 Awards. The accolade continues the pizzeria's remarkable run of international recognition, cementing its status as a leader in contemporary pizza-making.
Award-Winning History
Founded by pizzaiolo Michele Pascarella, who hails from Maddaloni near Naples, Napoli on the Road began as a three-wheeled Ape Piaggio truck in 2016, travelling to London's street markets. It opened its first permanent pizzeria in Chiswick in 2019, followed by a second branch in Richmond four years later. The latest award comes after Pascarella launched a third branch at 140 Wardour Street in Soho.
The pizzeria has received numerous accolades in recent years. Its Ricordi d'Infanzia pizza, topped with slow-cooked beef ragù, parmigiano reggiano DOP fondue, loads of grated parmigiano and basil, was crowned the world's best pizza by 50 Top Pizza last year. Pascarella was named World Pizza Maker of the Year 2023 by 50 Top Pizza and Best International Pizza Maker 2024 by the Accademia Nazionale Pizza DOC. The pizzeria is also a favourite of DJ duo Bicep.
European and Global Rankings
In its latest European ranking, 50 Top Pizza stated that Napoli on the Road 'represents one of the most dynamic and influential realities of contemporary pizza in the world'. The pizzeria is now in the running for the 100 Best Pizzerias in the World ranking, which will be revealed at a ceremony in Naples in September.
Other London pizzerias that made the European cut this year include 50 Kalò in fourth place, L'Antica Pizzeria in 28th, and the freshly opened Connie's Pizza in 48th, which also won the 'one to watch' award. London continues to be a hotspot for exceptional pizza, with establishments like Short Road and Yard Sale also gaining acclaim.
