The first announcement is a remake of the original three God Of War games, which has just entered development with no footage shown. This project is years away from release, and the developer remains unspecified. A key detail is the return of original voice actor TC Carson as Kratos, who expressed excitement about Sony's involvement.
Surprise Release: God Of War: Sons Of Sparta
The second game, God Of War: Sons Of Sparta, is a 2D Metroidvania title that leaked prior to the event. Developed by Mega Cat Studios, known for Five Nights At Freddy's: Into The Pit, the game features pixel art similar to indie titles. Set during Kratos's youth, it follows his training with brother Deimos in the agōgē. Santa Monica Studio is overseeing and writing the game to ensure authentic dialogue.
TC Carson reprises his role as Kratos, who wields a spear, shield, and magic artefacts called the Gifts of Olympus. In a surprise move, Sons Of Sparta launched immediately for £24.99 on the PlayStation Store, with a Digital Deluxe Edition at £32.99. It is exclusive to PlayStation 5, with no PC or Nintendo Switch 2 versions available.
