Pop superstar and actress Ariana Grande has been forced to cancel a series of high-profile promotional appearances after testing positive for Covid-19. The news comes as a significant blow during the crucial press tour for her new film, Wicked: For Good, which was released to cinemas today.
Positive Test Halts Press Tour
The 32-year-old artist revealed her diagnosis on her Instagram Stories on Thursday, November 21, 2025. She shared a black-and-white photo from her recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, captioning it simply: 'Moments before Covid.' Grande has not disclosed whether she is currently experiencing any symptoms of the virus.
According to a report from Variety, the positive test result means she will have to skip several planned Q&A sessions for the film in the coming days. Furthermore, she will be unable to attend a scheduled joint interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show with her co-star and friend, Cynthia Erivo.
A Troubled Promotional Circuit
This is not the first setback for the Wicked: For Good press tour. Just days before Grande's diagnosis, Cynthia Erivo was struggling with her own health issue, having lost her voice. Despite this, Erivo managed to attend the film's New York City premiere on Monday evening and even appeared on The Tonight Show on Wednesday, where she joked about her missing voice, calling it 'kind of sexy.' She is still expected to appear on the Kelly Clarkson show without Grande.
The promotional run has been notably challenging. Earlier, Ariana Grande was left devastated after missing the premiere in São Paulo, Brazil, due to plane safety issues. The tour's troubles were further compounded by a security incident in Singapore last week, where a man charged at Grande on the red carpet. The individual was subsequently sentenced to nine days in jail for the frightening encounter, which saw Erivo and co-star Michelle Yeoh swiftly intervene.
Looking Ahead
Despite these promotional hurdles, the highly anticipated film sequel has now officially landed in cinemas, generating significant buzz amongst fans eager to return to the land of Oz. There is no current information on how long Ariana Grande will be required to isolate or when she might be able to resume her promotional duties for the blockbuster musical.
