Comedian and Celebrity Traitors winner Alan Carr has made a surprising confession about which celebrity 'murder' on the hit BBC show truly broke his heart, and it wasn't the betrayal of his close friend, singer Paloma Faith.
The 'Saddest' Moment in the Castle
Appearing on Thursday's episode of The One Show, the 49-year-old star revealed that the elimination he found most emotionally devastating was that of Olympic diver Tom Daley. The poignant sight that tipped him over the edge wasn't a dramatic confrontation, but something far more mundane and touching.
'The saddest thing was when I murdered Tom Daley,' Carr confessed to the audience. He described the scene he encountered after the deed was done. 'You go in in the morning and he was knitting and then he was murdered and there was just a bag of wool left.'
He had been murdered mid-stitch, a detail that the Chatty Man star found particularly heartbreaking. The image of the abandoned knitting project proved too much for Carr, who was already struggling with the pressure of being a Traitor alongside Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns.
A Betrayal of a Friend
This revelation is sure to raise eyebrows among viewers who watched, aghast, as Carr executed his first murder in plain sight. In a cruel twist unique to the celebrity edition, he eliminated Paloma Faith by touching her face with the pollen from a fake poisoned lily, making her the first star to be brutally eliminated from the castle.
Despite his latest confession, Carr has previously spoken about how 'sick' he felt after betraying his real-life friend. On the companion show Uncloaked, he defended his actions while acknowledging the pain they caused.
'The thing is, when I killed Paloma I felt sick inside,' he said. 'And you’ve got to remember, it was such a cruel twist to touch someone’s face. Now, you’re the only one… I mean if I touched any of these other faces, I’d be sent to HR.'
He emphasised the genuine friendship he shares with the singer, noting, 'I’m a fan of her music, I’ve been a fan of her for a long time, we are friends, we go on each other’s podcasts. So, yeah it absolutely really hurt.'
Forgiveness and Victory
Fortunately for Alan, it seems Paloma Faith has forgiven her friend's televised betrayal. During the final episode of Uncloaked, the singer admitted she was delighted that Carr went on to win the entire series.
'I just also want to say that I think observing tonight and going through my whole plethora of hormonal emotions, I feel that the reason that Alan won and the reason I was so sad was because we all love him so much,' Faith said. She concluded, 'I love you so much and I’m so happy that you won because it was bloody worth it then.'
Fans won't have to wait long for more high-stakes deception, as The Celebrity Traitors is returning to BBC One for a second series in 2026.
