A Year in London Review: Fashion Student Romance with Professor
A Year in London Review: Student-Professor Romance

Italian fashion student Olivia (Nina Pons) gets a chance to study at the London Academy of Couture in South Kensington. She is almost-engaged to wealthy Paolo (Matteo Bassi) but soon feels a spark with her sophisticated professor Nina (Melanie Liburd).

Plot and Performances

Olivia is naive, even surprised by two men kissing. After a mugging, she and Nina bond and later travel to Rome for a fashion convention. Despite chemistry, Nina hesitates due to professional boundaries. Paolo causes trouble, but Nina is also involved in a community outreach project.

Critique

The film feels long, with wooden dialogue and soap opera silliness. However, the photo-love yearning and some entertaining moments save it. According to the review, the mugging scene is meant to show London as dangerous, but the effect is comedic.
