The festive season is set to sparkle as a second celebrity has been confirmed for the highly anticipated Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special 2025.
Melanie Blatt, the 50-year-old singer from the iconic 90s group All Saints, will be trading the microphone for dancing shoes this December.
Meet the Dancing Duo
Melanie will be partnered with professional dancer Kai Widdrington as she competes for the coveted title of Strictly Christmas Champion. Expressing her excitement about the upcoming challenge, Melanie said: ‘If you can’t have a dance at Christmas, when can you?! I’m so excited to meet Kai and start training to make this a dance to remember.’
She joins fellow confirmed contestant Scarlett Moffatt in the festive line-up. The remaining four celebrities set to compete will be announced in the coming week on the sister show, Strictly: It Takes Two, at 6:30pm.
A Festive Farewell for Beloved Hosts
This year's special carries an added layer of significance as it will mark the final appearance of the show's long-standing hosts. Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly will present their last episode together after announcing their departure from the series earlier this year.
The six competing couples will perform under the watchful eyes of the show's iconic judging panel: Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke.
From Pop Stardom to the Dance Floor
Melanie Blatt brings a wealth of entertainment experience to the Strictly ballroom. As a member of All Saints, alongside Shaznay Lewis and Simone Rainford, she achieved massive success with five UK number one singles and two BRIT awards, contributing to over 10 million album sales worldwide.
In recent years, she has successfully diversified her career, founding a gourmet burger business and reaching the finals of Celebrity MasterChef. Audiences have also seen her compete in the second series of Celebrity Race Across The World and star in Taskmaster’s New Year Treat.
The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer during the festive period, promising a dazzling send-off for its beloved hosts and a spectacular competition.
