Coronation Street: Tim drops bombshell that devastates Lucy
Corrie: Tim's bombshell devastates Lucy

Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) dropped a major bombshell on Lucy (Anya Dewin) in Coronation Street on August 24, revealing that he had told her father Richie (Nathan Sussex) to go back home instead of going to Liverpool. Lucy quickly worked out that if Tim had not done this, her mum Rachel might still be alive.

Tim's guilt grows as Lucy opens up

Earlier in the episode, Tim sensed that he was making progress with Lucy, which increased his guilt tenfold. Lucy is the teenage daughter of Tim's cousin Richie, who is currently in prison after killing his wife Rachel. Lucy was present when the murder took place, which meant she arrived at Tim and Sally Metcalfe's (Sally Dynevor) house traumatised and vulnerable.

The couple quickly realised that they were very out of their depth when it became apparent that Lucy has a very short fuse. If she interprets something the wrong way, or it feels like someone is bad-mouthing her dad, she will react with anger.

Lucy's request for support

Tim forged a very small connection with Lucy last week, when they sat outside and spoke about their interests. They don't have a lot in common, but the chat helped Lucy see that Tim and Sally are just trying to do their best for her. In today's episode, Lucy was informed by Sally that her mum's body had now been moved to the Undertakers. To Sally and Tim's surprise, Lucy stated that she'd like to visit the funeral parlour.

Lucy then asked Tim if he could go along with her for support. The young woman couldn't bring herself to actually go into Shuttleworth's, so Tim took her to the café. The chat they had left Tim feeling terrible. For the first time, Lucy was being very honest about how she was feeling, and Tim felt it was only fair for him to be truthful as well.

Tim's confession destroys progress

Tim shared the news that he told Richie to go back home instead of going to Liverpool, and it didn't take Lucy very long to work out that if Tim never did this, her mum might still be alive. It wasn't surprising that Lucy became very angry as she tried to process this. After a fight with Joanie (Savanna Pennington), Lucy made it clear that she didn't want to talk to Tim or Sally that evening.

All the progress they had made today had just been completely destroyed. The episode, dated August 24, hasn't aired on ITV1 yet but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube. As Tim and Sally continue to try and navigate this very rocky road, viewers will have to wait to see what's next for the family.
