Hackney Art Week Announces Major Expansion for 2026 Summer Festival
The highly anticipated Hackney Art Week is set to return in 2026 with a significant expansion that will see the free art festival take over the entire borough of Hackney. Scheduled from June 4 to 14, this year's event promises to be larger and more immersive than ever before, bringing together 60 artists and creatives across 50 diverse venues throughout east London.

Founded in 2025 by local residents Lisa Baker and Anna McHugh, Hackney Art Week has quickly become a cornerstone of London's cultural calendar. The 2026 edition will transform neighborhoods including Dalston, Clapton, London Fields, De Beauvoir, Stoke Newington, Haggerston, and Hackney Wick into vibrant hubs of artistic expression. All events remain completely free and open to the public, ensuring accessibility for all art enthusiasts.
The festival will feature an eclectic mix of exhibitions, markets, workshops, performances, and street parties. Venues range from traditional cultural spaces like Raleigh Chapel, Chats Palace, The Rose Lipman Building, and St Augustine's Tower to unconventional locations such as pubs, bakeries, delis, and other beloved local spots. The Dalston Cultural Quarter Takeover on June 6 and 7 will transform Arcola Street with workshops, artist open studios, a ceramics market, and a street-level sound system. Artist Jeanne Gourlaouen presents "The Sandwich Walk," a surreal installation on Wilton Way featuring absurd shoe-sandwich sculptures designed to make visitors look twice.
Another major attraction is the Collagism™ Art Hunt, which will turn the streets around London Fields into a living collage. This borough-wide treasure hunt invites participants to seek clues via hidden QR codes, creating an interactive art experience that blends digital and physical elements. For music lovers, composer Gabriel Prokofiev has curated over 100 live events that will take over clubs, warehouses, and various unconventional spaces throughout Hackney.
