Gavin & Stacey Actress Makes Husband Exhume Deceased Dog's Remains

In a startling revelation on a popular podcast, Joanna Page, best known for her role in the beloved BBC sitcom Gavin & Stacey, has disclosed the extraordinary reason she instructed her husband to dig up their dead dog's bones after they had been buried. The Welsh actress shared this deeply personal story during an appearance on Chris and Rosie Ramsey's Sh**ged Married Annoyed podcast, leaving the hosts visibly shocked.

A Sentimental Journey Leads to Unconventional Request

The conversation initially centered on how people attach sentimental value to objects, but Joanna took the discussion to an entirely new level. She explained that she had already made arrangements with her husband, actor James Thornton, regarding her final wishes. 'I've already decided, I said to James the other day,' Joanna began. 'When I die, I want you to put me in the coffin with all of their [her kids'] artwork that's on the fridge, on the walls and that I've kept... I said I wanna lie in the coffin and then put all of that on top of me.'

She then extended this request to include the ashes of her cherished Jack Russell terrier, Daisy. Joanna, a mother of four children named Eva, Kit, Noah, and Boe, clearly considers herself a devoted dog parent as well, having formed special bonds with the canines in her life throughout the years.

The Heartbreaking Story of Daisy the Jack Russell

Joanna recounted her profound connection with Daisy, who was her first dog as an adult when she was 21 years old and living in London. 'She lived until she was 16, so we've been through everything together,' the 49-year-old actress emotionally shared. When Daisy eventually passed away from old age, Joanna found herself unable to go through with cremation. Instead, the family chose to bury the beloved pet in her basket, surrounded by flowers and her favorite blanket, a moment Joanna described as utterly heartbreaking.

The Move That Sparked the Unusual Exhumation

The situation took an unexpected turn when the family prepared to relocate to a new property. Joanna was adamant that Daisy would not be left behind. 'There was no way in hell she was going to be left there,' she told the podcast hosts. The day before their move, James Thornton equipped himself with a head torch and began digging in the garden to retrieve Daisy's remains.

'So before we went right, he had, you know, a head torch on and everything, and he's there digging her,' Joanna recalled. Her husband successfully recovered Daisy from the ground and placed her in a large transparent box, which they then moved to their garage at the new house.

Future Plans for Daisy's Final Resting Place

Joanna explained that Daisy will remain in the garage until they find their forever home and decide they will not be moving again. At that point, they plan to bury her once more in the garden. However, Joanna added a crucial clarification: 'If I die before then, that whole box is just coming in with me. Pour all of that on me as well. Put the lid down, then you can bury me.'

The actress's story highlights the deep emotional connections people form with their pets and the sometimes unconventional ways they choose to honor those bonds.
