Capcom Officially Announces Story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem
In a recent video, director Koshi Nakanishi has confirmed that story DLC is in development for Resident Evil Requiem, following earlier rumors. This move aligns with Capcom's history of expanding titles like Resident Evil 7: biohazard and Resident Evil Village with multiple DLC packs. While specific plot details are kept secret, the DLC promises to delve deeper into the game's universe, though it will take time before release.
Teasing Upcoming Content and Features
Nakanishi playfully shared fake slides in the video, depicting humorous concepts such as Grace and Leon as cats, a card game with villain Gideon, and a dating sim called Forbidden Requiem. Beyond the story expansion, Capcom plans to add a photo mode and a minigame, widely speculated to be The Mercenaries—a popular arcade-style mode from the series involving timed zombie-slaying objectives.
This mode often allows players to control characters beyond the main protagonists, potentially including Alyssa Ashcroft, Grace's mother, who was rumored for DLC involvement. No release dates have been provided, but updates are expected before year-end, possibly timed with the Resident Evil series' 30th anniversary on March 22.
Fan Support and Game Success
Nakanishi expressed gratitude to fans, noting that Resident Evil Requiem has sold over five million copies quickly. Capcom also released player statistics, revealing a collective playtime exceeding 12,000 years. The community's engagement highlights the game's impact and anticipation for future content.
