CD Projekt Reveals Plans for Unannounced Gaming Project in Latest Financial Report
Developer CD Projekt has announced in its financial report for the period ending December 2025 that it intends to publish an unannounced gaming project in the coming quarters. This revelation has sparked widespread speculation among fans, particularly regarding the possibility of new downloadable content (DLC) for the critically acclaimed game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Fans Speculate on the Nature of the Mystery Project
While CD Projekt has not disclosed specific details about the project, rumors have been circulating for months about potential new DLC for The Witcher 3. Multiple sources suggest that such content exists, and fans believe the studio's latest statements provide subtle hints. During an earnings call, CEO Michał Nowakowski mentioned that more information about a project in development at external studio Fool's Theory will be revealed later this year.
Fool's Theory is known to be working on a remake of the original Witcher game, but financial reports from last year also indicated another undisclosed project at the studio. This has led to theories that the unannounced project could be DLC for The Witcher 3, possibly developed by Fool's Theory. If true, this DLC might launch sooner rather than later, aligning with the anticipated release of The Witcher 4 in 2027.
Current Development Focus and Team Allocation at CD Projekt
CD Projekt confirmed that The Witcher 4 remains the studio's top priority, with 499 internal developers dedicated to the game. Out of a total of 933 developers at the company, this represents over half of the entire team. The remaining developers are distributed across other projects:
- 149 are working on Cyberpunk 2
- 71 are developing Project Sirius, a multiplayer spin-off for The Witcher
- 26 are on Project Hadar, an original IP that has entered the conceptual phase
- The rest are involved in shared services
This allocation underscores CD Projekt's status as one of the world's largest game developers, though the team is not based in a single location. The Witcher 4 is set to be the first installment in a new trilogy featuring Ciri, Geralt's adoptive daughter, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Broader Context of CD Projekt's Gaming Pipeline
Beyond the mystery project, CD Projekt has multiple games in active development. In addition to The Witcher 4 and the aforementioned titles, the studio is collaborating with Fool's Theory on the Witcher remake, which is still in early stages and expected to launch after The Witcher 4. The financial report emphasizes the studio's commitment to ongoing projects while hinting at future surprises.
As the gaming community awaits further announcements, the speculation around the unannounced project highlights the enduring popularity of The Witcher franchise and CD Projekt's influential role in the industry. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates, with more details likely to emerge later this year.
