M&S reopens Oxford Street store as blueprint for future branches
M&S Oxford Street store blueprint for future branches

Marks and Spencer has fully reopened its four-floor Pantheon store on London's Oxford Street, introducing major layout changes and new features in food, fashion, home, and beauty departments that will serve as a template for future branch refurbishments. The retailer described the store as a blueprint for '25 years of catching up' to modernise its estate.

New features include beauty hall and made-to-order suits

The Pantheon store now includes M&S's first dedicated beauty hall, showcasing own-label ranges and third-party brands including K-Beauty. A made-to-order suit fitting service has been introduced in the menswear section, while the homeware department has been expanded to feature a Kelly Hoppen range displayed in a section designed by the interior designer and TV personality. A new click-and-collect system has also been implemented.

Refurbishment part of wider London investment

The store remained open during refurbishment, with the lower ground fresh market-style foodhall opening in August 2025, Womenswear and Beauty in January 2026, and the upper two floors reopening this week. M&S is in the midst of five additional refurbishments and four new store developments in London, as well as further openings and renewals across the UK. A major redevelopment of its Marble Arch shop on Oxford Street received government approval in 2024 after a three-year planning battle, and will be rebuilt into a nine-storey building with retail, a cafe, a gym, and office space.

CEO says Pantheon is a 'big step forward'

Stuart Machin, M&S's chief executive, said: 'We've still got a lot to do modernising our estate, with 25 years of catching up to do. But Pantheon is a big step forward.' He described the refurbished store as 'a good example of our strategy to protect the magic and modernise the rest, holding on to the quality, style and value people know and trust us for, while making the experience more modern.'
