Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake Faces Fresh Leaks Ahead of Official Reveal
An official reveal for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake is finally scheduled for later this week, but new leaks have emerged, including details about a Twitch drop and gameplay adjustments. For years, rumours have swirled about a full remake of the beloved pirate-themed game, with Ubisoft only recently acknowledging its existence and announcing a showcase set for Thursday, April 23, at 5pm BST on YouTube and Twitch.
Twitch Drop Leak Offers In-Game Reward
According to streamers Higgs on X and D3ATHWISH on YouTube, viewers who watch the showcase on Twitch for at least 20 minutes will receive a unique pistol, dubbed the Rufino pistol, as an in-game reward upon the game's launch. This pistol is believed to reference the character Rufino from Assassin's Creed Shadows, the series' latest entry released last year. Ubisoft has not officially confirmed this Twitch drop on its website, suggesting the information was shared prematurely.
Ubisoft Acknowledges 'Worst Kept Secret' in Gaming
In a trailer promoting the showcase, Ubisoft humorously addressed the widespread leaks, opening with the text 'gaming's worst kept secret.' The Assassin's Creed X account added, 'We know you know, but how about we tell you some more now?' Despite this, additional leaks, including a snippet of a trailer and screenshots, have surfaced online, showcasing improved graphics but no major new details.
Gameplay Overhaul and Future Plans
Reports indicate that Black Flag Resynced will not only feature a graphical overhaul but also incorporate gameplay adjustments, such as roleplaying game elements inspired by modern Assassin's Creed titles. Unpopular modern-day sections are said to be removed. This remake is part of Ubisoft's broader strategy to release Assassin's Creed games more regularly, as stated by CEO Yves Guillemot in 2024. Meanwhile, the next new entry, Assassin's Creed Hexe, themed around witches, has seen limited updates since its 2022 announcement and recently lost its creative director.
The upcoming showcase is expected to confirm these leaked details, solidifying what has long been public knowledge in the gaming community.
