Big Mamma Group, the restaurant operator behind Gloria, Jacuzzi, and Circolo Popolare, will open its first City of London location in November. The new Italian osteria, named Edmondo, will be situated at 6 Lombard Street in Bank, a Grade II-listed site.
Edmondo Brings 1930s Milanese Glamour to Bank
According to Big Mamma Group, the restaurant will offer 'unapologetic 1930s Milanese glamour,' with decor inspired by the lavish furnishings of Villa Necchi Campiglio, a historic house-turned-museum and one of Milan's most iconic tourist spots. The venue will feature a main dining room with seating for 200, centered around an open kitchen counter where diners can watch the chefs at work.
In addition to the main dining area, Edmondo will include three private dining rooms. La Libreria will display vintage Ferrari memorabilia, including a racing suit worn by former driver Nigel 'il leone' Mansell. Il Salotto, the second private dining room, is a heritage-listed alcove with old English timber panelling. Il Ridotto, the smallest of the three, can accommodate up to 10 diners.
Menu Highlights: Focaccia, Gnocchi, and Spice-Crusted Steaks
The menu will feature towering focaccia, pasta dishes such as gnocchi al gorgonzola, and a selection of steaks finished in a spice crust, which Big Mamma says will be the restaurant's signature. Desserts include Italian chocolate cake with a molten centre and a twist on classic affogato. The drinks menu will offer a barrel-aged Boulevardier, a cocktail similar to a Negroni but made with whisky instead of gin.
Rumors of a City of London site circulated in early 2025, but the group kept its plans confidential until now. Edmondo will be the second location in the Big Mamma portfolio, originally transplanted from Hamburg, Germany. The restaurant is scheduled to open in November.
