NewsAllpress has unveiled plans for a new espresso bar in London's Farringdon district, set to open in early April 2026. This marks the Kiwi coffee roaster's latest expansion in the capital, strategically located to overlook the historic Smithfield Market.
Expanding Beyond East London Roots
When Allpress first entered the London scene in 2010, it quickly became a staple in trendy east London neighborhoods like Shoreditch and Dalston. The brand's artisan coffee offerings, including cold brews and flat whites, aligned perfectly with the area's vibrant culture of single-gear bikes, artsy tote bags, and eclectic hairstyles. In 2023, Allpress broadened its UK presence with a northern hub in Manchester, but Londoners have continued to travel eastwards for their caffeine fixes from this New Zealand roaster.
A New Central London Destination
The new Farringdon location, situated at 88-89 Cowcross Street, will be Allpress's fifth outpost in the UK. It takes over a space previously occupied by Flipside, a vegan grab-and-go joint. This move brings Allpress closer to central London, offering convenience for both locals and visitors.
Patrons can expect the same high-quality brews and beans that have defined Allpress's reputation. The menu will feature signature blends alongside rotating single-origin coffees, ensuring a diverse and premium coffee experience. For food, the cafe will offer a selection of pastries and in-house cakes, available daily to complement the beverages.
Design and Ambiance
The espresso bar's design blends Scandinavian, Japanese, and mid-century influences, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere. Key elements include oiled oak furnishings, vintage-inspired rice paper ceiling hangings, and sleek porcelain tiling. A central bar area is designed to facilitate meetings and social interactions, while leaner bars along the internal walls provide quick pit-stops for espresso enthusiasts.
Additionally, the venue features outdoor wooden seating and tables at the front, ideal for enjoying sunny days while sipping coffee. This thoughtful layout caters to both leisurely visits and fast-paced urban lifestyles.
Proximity to Smithfield Market
One of the standout features of the new location is its view over Smithfield Market, one of London's oldest food spots and the country's largest meat market. The market operates from 2am on weekday mornings, bustling with traders selling a wide variety of meats. Given the early hours, visitors and workers are likely to crave a strong cup of coffee by the time Allpress Farringdon opens its doors at 7am, positioning the espresso bar as a timely addition to the area.
This expansion reflects Allpress's ongoing commitment to enhancing London's coffee culture, providing a premium destination in a historic and bustling part of the city.
