Former Coronation Street star Katie McGlynn is going to great lengths to keep her rekindled romance with ex-EastEnders actor Max Bowden out of the spotlight, according to reports. The couple, who first got together while starring in the stage play Murder At Midnight, have been determined to maintain a low profile after the very public nature of McGlynn's previous breakup with The Only Way is Essex star Ricky Rayment.
Keeping It Private
Sources close to the actress have revealed that she has instructed friends to remove Bowden from photos taken during her birthday trip to the Lake District last weekend. 'She told everyone NOT to post any he was in,' a source told The Sun. 'Katie was really burnt by how publicly her last relationship with TOWIE star Ricky Rayment played out and when it ended she was humiliated it was all over.'
The 31-year-old actress, known for her role as Sinead Osbourne on Coronation Street, is reportedly focusing her social media posts solely on her career and refuses to discuss Bowden publicly. 'This time she's doing things differently – no hard launch, making her posts online all about her career and she won't talk about Max publicly,' the source added.
Whirlwind Romance
McGlynn and Bowden, who played Ben Mitchell on EastEnders, first sparked romance rumors when they were spotted sharing a kiss after an evening at a Wetherspoons pub following a performance of Murder At Midnight. An onlooker described the pair as 'very intimate and comfortable in each other's company,' adding that 'they only had eyes for each other.'
The couple's relationship began during the UK tour of the stage play, where they reportedly 'have loads in common' and 'both have found themselves single at the same time.' A source told The Sun: 'They've got loads in common and both have found themselves single at the same time as doing the tour. They get on well and have been spending time together – it's clear they've got chemistry.'
On-Again, Off-Again
Despite the strong start, the relationship hit a rough patch when they reportedly split two months after the tour concluded. 'Max and Katie have had a bit of a whirlwind romance. Working together has meant they didn't have much time for anything else and one thing led to another but Katie has come to her senses and decided to end things,' a source revealed at the time. 'Max is said to be pretty cut up about it and it's made things pretty awkward.'
However, the pair reconciled four months later. 'Katie and Max had a whirlwind romance last year but sadly things didn't work out. They remained friends and over the last couple of weeks decided to give things another go,' a source told The Sun. 'There was a lot of attention on their relationship so they were hoping to keep things private this time around.'
Future Uncertain
Despite their efforts to stay under the radar, some close to McGlynn remain skeptical. 'There were quite a few people around Katie who were telling her that Max wasn't good for her. It's going to be interesting to see how long their romance will last this time around,' a source said.
Metro has reached out to representatives for both Max and Katie for comment.
