A PC gamer has shared the story of how their rig saved their life after they were fired upon by their neighbour's dog. This incident follows a similar one last year where a person was saved by a collection of Pokémon cards when a bullet came through their wall. Now, a gaming PC has taken the hit instead.
The Incident
According to Reddit user angelbabyzz, who posted pictures of their damaged PC and the bullet, the incident occurred in the United States. The bullet was deflected upon hitting the PC, according to police. The event happened in the middle of the night, waking angelbabyzz with the sound of the PC being shot and glass hitting their face. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries.
Neighbor's Explanation
The neighbor claimed that their dog accidentally discharged one of her guns. While angelbabyzz expressed some skepticism, they noted that the neighbor was deeply upset, crying and apologizing repeatedly.
Aftermath
In an update, angelbabyzz explained that the neighbor had her gun confiscated and was charged with criminal negligence. The damage is likely covered by insurance, but the neighbor has offered to pay out of pocket if needed. Angelbabyzz said, 'Between the criminal charge, her gun being confiscated, the cost of replacing everything, and her constant apologies, I feel like she is appropriately paying her dues.'
Reddit responses joked about the incident being typical in the US and expressed skepticism about the dog's involvement. However, many were relieved no one was hurt. Angelbabyzz noted that the damage to the PC is not severe, though the PSU and GPU may need replacement due to tiny glass fragments. They added, 'Mama wants a new GPU anyway so I’m not too mad.'
