British Tourist Dies in Tenerife Staircase Fall

A British holidaymaker has tragically died after falling down the stairs of an apartment complex in Tenerife, Spain. The victim, a 24-year-old man, plunged face first to his death at approximately 5:30 AM on Saturday at the Playa de las Americas resort.

Incident Details

Emergency responders rushed to the complex following reports of a lifeless person on the ground. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police investigations revealed that the British tourist had spent the day at an electronic music festival in nearby Costa Adeje with a friend.

Authorities are working on the theory that the victim woke up during the night and left the fourth-floor apartment he was staying in. Moments later, he fell from a point two floors below, in what is believed to be an accident.

Recent Similar Incident in Lanzarote

This tragedy comes weeks after an elderly British tourist from Hartlepool fell from the second floor of his hotel in Lanzarote. The 70-year-old man landed in a knee-deep fish pond filled with Koi carp and terrapins at the popular resort of Playa Blanca on April 18.

Firefighters and medical staff were called to rescue the pensioner from the pond. A well-placed source indicated that the fall is being treated as an accident, as he appeared to have been trying to peer down at the fish pond before losing his balance.

Medical staff had already fitted the elderly tourist with a neck brace by the time firefighters arrived. They lifted him out on a rescue board and transported him to a waiting ambulance. He was then evacuated to Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote.

Later, the holidaymaker was transferred to the UK and taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, suffering from multiple injuries including broken bones and a head injury.
