British Transport Police (BTP) have released a CCTV image of a man they want to identify after a woman was sexually assaulted on a Piccadilly line train. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30pm on Friday, April 3, on an eastbound service from Knightsbridge.
Details of the assault
According to BTP, the suspect boarded the train at Knightsbridge station and deliberately stood directly next to the victim, despite there being ample space elsewhere in the carriage. He then sexually assaulted the woman, who shouted at him in response. The man is described as a middle-aged White male with short grey hair, wearing a grey checked shirt under a black jacket.
Appeal for information
Detectives believe the man in the CCTV image may have information that could assist their ongoing investigation. A BTP spokesperson said: “Detectives believe the man in the CCTV image may have information that could assist their ongoing investigation.” Anyone who recognises him is urged to come forward.
How to contact police
Witnesses or anyone with information can contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 684 of 3 April. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Separate incident: man bites passenger's finger
In a separate case, BTP is also working to identify a man who bit a passenger's finger and threatened to kill people on a train. The incident occurred on a Cannon Street to Orpington service, with the suspect exiting at New Cross station shortly after 9:20pm on May 21. He remains untraced.
