British Transport Police are hunting for a man after a violent assault at East Croydon railway station left a victim with three broken ribs.
Violent altercation on station platform
The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Thursday, September 18, 2025. According to police reports, two men were involved in a brief argument on the station platform.
As the confrontation appeared to de-escalate and both men turned to walk away, one of the individuals suddenly doubled back. He then forcefully shoved the other man, causing him to fall backwards into a wall.
Serious injuries and police investigation
The fall resulted in significant injury, with the victim sustaining three broken ribs. The attack is being treated as a serious assault by the British Transport Police (BTP).
In a bid to identify the perpetrator, detectives have released a CCTV image of a man they urgently wish to speak to in connection with their investigation. Officers believe this individual may hold vital information.
Appeal for public assistance
The BTP has issued a public appeal for help. The man in the image is described as a white male with short brown hair. He was seen wearing a white t-shirt, a grey shirt, and a black jacket at the time of the incident.
A BTP statement detailed: "Officers investigating an assault in East Croydon which left a man with broken ribs have released an image of a man they would like to speak to."
The force is urging anyone who recognises the man pictured, or who witnessed the altercation, to come forward immediately.
