The family of a 14-year-old footballer who died after being struck by a train have paid an emotional tribute to their son, describing him as having 'so much love to give'. Joshua Travis was killed when he was hit by a train in Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire, just after 7pm on Wednesday.

In a statement released on Saturday, Joshua's devastated family remembered him as a boy with 'incredible energy for life' and an 'infectious and mischievous smile'. They added: 'He leaves a gap in our lives that is and will always be impossible to fill, and we will miss him forever.'
The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the local football community, where Joshua was known as a promising goalkeeper. Nottingham Forest Academy, where he previously played, expressed their deep sadness at the 'tragic passing' of their former academy player.

British Transport Police confirmed that officers responded to reports of a casualty on the tracks and that Joshua died at the scene. The force stated that the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
Aspire Football Coaching, where Joshua played as an under-15s goalkeeper, announced they would postpone all games following his death. In a Facebook tribute, they described him as 'a fantastic goalkeeper and a great character in the group' who made 'a real impact both as a footballer but more importantly as a person'.
