Piccadilly Line to Face Major Summer Closures: Full List of Dates

If the Piccadilly line is the cornerstone of your fun weekend plans, watch out—serious disruption is coming this summer. Transport for London (TfL) is in the middle of a massive upgrade program for the navy blue line, which accounts for more than 10 percent of all Tube journeys. The work includes new trains with walk-through carriages and air conditioning, better digital displays, improved step-free access, and upgraded tracks and power systems. However, these improvements come at a cost: extensive line closures that will leave passengers seeking alternative routes.

Key Weekend Closures

The two major weekends to note are Saturday June 20 to Sunday June 21, when there will be no service from Cockfosters to Uxbridge, and Saturday August 1 to Sunday August 2, when there will be no service between Cockfosters and Heathrow. These closures mean the entire central London section of the line will be out of action, so plan ahead to avoid missing summer plans.

How to Get to Heathrow During Piccadilly Line Closures

Even without the Piccadilly line, there are plenty of ways to reach Heathrow. You can use the Elizabeth line or Heathrow Express. Alternatively, travel to Acton Town on the District line and hop on the Piccadilly line if that section remains open. Other options include coach, taxi, or driving.
