London travel disruption is set to affect tube and train services this weekend, May 16-17 2026, with major closures on the Central line, DLR, and Overground. The Hackney Half Marathon will also impact services. Despite the disruptions, there are plenty of events to enjoy, including the Globe's outdoor season and a literature festival.
Central Line
On Saturday May 16, early morning (1:45 am to 5:15 am), no trains run between Marble Arch and Woodford or Newbury Park. From 5:45 am on Saturday and all day Sunday (including Saturday night tube), no service between Marble Arch and Leytonstone. Mile End station is closed on both days.
DLR
On Saturday and Sunday, no service on the entire network after 11:30 pm each evening. On Sunday, no trains between Shadwell and Tower Gateway.
Elizabeth Line
On Sunday, no trains between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7:40 am.
Piccadilly and District Lines
Eastbound trains will not call at Barons Court until June. Travel west to Hammersmith and return east. Mile End station is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Hammersmith and City Line
Mile End station is closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Windrush Line (Overground)
On Sunday, no trains between New Cross Gate and West Croydon or Crystal Palace.
Waterloo and City Line
Closed on weekends and bank holidays.
Hackney Half Marathon
The 2026 HOKA Hackney Half Marathon takes place on Sunday May 17. The Mildmay line will have extra services between Stratford and Camden Road. Homerton station is shut eastbound until 11 am. Stations near the route, such as Stratford, Hackney Wick, and Clapton, may be busier than usual.
