Sidcup road closures: Thames Water works cause delays

Drivers in Sidcup are facing disruption as six roads are currently closed due to Thames Water works, with some closures set to last until 2027, according to roadworks platform Causeway one.network.

Burnt Oak Lane was closed on Monday (November 2) and is expected to remain shut until November 27 to allow Thames Water to carry out works. The closure is in place near its junction with Sherwood Park Avenue.

Multiple roads affected by water works

Motorists were already navigating a road closure on The Oval, which started at the end of September and is due to last until November 22. This is again as a result of Thames Water works.

According to Causeway one.network, the nearby Willersley Avenue is also shut and will not reopen until January 12, 2027. Another closure in Old Farm Avenue, which came into force on Monday, is expected to continue until January 31, 2027.

Longest closures extend to 2027

Thames Water works which have blocked Elm Road since the summer are set to wrap on November 26, but new works which have closed Station Road will continue for the longest, until October 19, 2027 according to Causeway one.network.

The roadworks site has warned drivers that delays are "likely" for the duration of each of these closures.
