Five fireworks and Diwali displays across north London

Five major fireworks and Diwali displays are set to take place across north London this weekend, marking both Bonfire Night and the festival of Diwali. Events in Brent, Barnet, Camden, Harrow and Haringey will feature funfair rides, food stalls, drone displays and music alongside the fireworks.

Alexandra Palace hosts two-night festival

The Alexandra Park and Palace fireworks festival runs over two days on November 7 and 8, with a programme of entertainment and two drone and fireworks displays against the backdrop of the London skyline. This year, the event has been split into a party on the Saturday and a new reduced capacity Sunday family-friendly fun day.

Saturday's schedule includes music and DJs, including a headline set from Eats Everything, a bonfire, funfair rides, ice skating, street food and, in the great hall, a German Bier Festival with oompah bands, live music and a Queen tribute act. Sunday's schedule features marshmallow toasting at the firepit, a Junior Jungle Kids Rave, funfair rides and BARRIOKE, with EastEnders star Shaun Williamson. Tickets are available from alexandrapalace.com.

Free Diwali celebration at Neasden Temple

Neasden Temple Diwali fireworks take place on Sunday November 8, with the Hindu community marking the festival of light. The whole north London community is invited to the celebration at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, known as Neasden Temple, with devotional ceremonies from 5.45pm including blessing account books and praying for success in the year ahead.

There is a large food hall and gift shop with stalls, and the day culminates with a free firework display in Gibbons Recreation Ground at 8pm. The event is free, and shuttle buses run from Neasden station to the venue.
