Drivers are facing significant delays on the UK’s busiest motorway after a crash in Surrey on Saturday evening. The slip road from the M25 at junction 12 onto the M3 has been fully closed following a collision that occurred around 6:30pm, disrupting weekend getaways.
Delays and Congestion
National Highways reported delays in excess of 33 minutes on the approach, with 3 miles of congestion. Tailbacks are building up towards junction 10 for the A3, while traffic is also moving slowly on the opposite direction near the crash scene.
The affected slip road is a key route for drivers exiting the M25 clockwise to reach attractions such as Thorpe Park and Thorpe Lakes. National Highways warned that it could take until 9:45pm for the scene to be cleared.
Previous Incidents
Friday saw chaos on the M11 near Stansted after back-to-back multi-vehicle collisions. The most serious involved two lorries and a van near the Essex and Cambridgeshire border, closing the carriageway for hours.
