The bodies of three women have been pulled from the sea in Brighton in what police have described as a tragic incident. Emergency services were called to the scene near Madeira Drive at approximately 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday after concerns were raised for the women's welfare.
Police Investigation Underway
Chief Superintendent Adam Hays of Sussex Police stated: "This is a tragic incident and fast-moving enquiries are ongoing to confirm the identities of these three women and understand exactly what has happened." He appealed to the public to stay away from the area while emergency services continue their work.
Authorities have cordoned off the area as forensic teams and detectives conduct their investigation. The identities of the women have not yet been released, and police are working to notify next of kin.
Community Concerns
Hays acknowledged the incident may cause concern among the community but urged patience. "We will provide further updates as soon as they are available," he added.
The incident has prompted an outpouring of sympathy from local residents and officials. Brighton and Hove City Council expressed condolences and offered support to those affected.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police. The investigation remains ongoing, and further details are expected to be released later today.
