Hopper, a three-legged kitten with a resilient spirit, is searching for a forever home after being abandoned outside Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. The domestic shorthair was just two months old when staff at the renowned animal charity found her alone in a carrier outside their gates.
Severe leg injury led to amputation
Upon admission, Battersea's veterinary team examined Hopper and discovered a severe leg injury, believed to have been present from birth. The injury caused considerable pain and left her vulnerable to recurring infections, forcing vets to amputate the affected limb. Despite this difficult start, Hopper has made a remarkable recovery from surgery and shows no signs of letting her three-legged status slow her down.
Spirited and affectionate personality
The spirited kitten now whizzes around her pen with impressive speed and confidence, gleefully chasing her beloved ping pong ball and pouncing on her collection of knitted mice. When not tearing about, Hopper reveals a gentler side, transforming into an affectionate and devoted companion. Battersea describes her as a kitten who “absolutely loves attention” and who will contentedly curl up on a welcoming lap, soaking up strokes, chin scratches, and plenty of fuss.
Ideal home environment
The charity is now seeking a perfect forever home for Hopper. She would be ideally suited to a family with children of any age who can offer boundless playtime, love, and companionship. Given her three-legged nature, Hopper will require a secure, private garden away from busy roads so she can safely venture out and explore her new surroundings. Those interested in offering Hopper a loving home are encouraged to contact Battersea's rehoming team at cat.rehoming@battersea.org.uk or visit the charity's website for further details.
