Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) is about to frame the man who helped her cover up a murder in Coronation Street. After confessing to killing abusive bully Theo Silverton, Sarah is now conspiring with her corrupt police boyfriend DS Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) to pin the crime on Gary Windass (Mikey North).
Sarah's Dark Secret Revealed
Sarah was the one who killed Theo on the night he tried to attack her on a roof. She struck him with a pipe in self-defence, sending him plunging to his death on the Cobbles. The first person she called was Gary, who helped her dispose of the body. For weeks, Sarah watched as six other residents were wrongly accused of the murder, including her best friend Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), who had been Theo's victim. Sarah remained absent from the suspect list while Gary became the prime target for DS Kit Green.
Kit's Corrupt Plan
Kit, who is bent as a nine bob note, is determined to protect Sarah at all costs. After Sarah confesses to him during a romantic lunch where he proposes, Kit vows to keep her out of jail. He heads to the police station and studies the evidence board, then warns Sarah that her freedom depends on Gary. Kit instructs Sarah to get hold of Gary's phone to delete any incriminating data. Secretly, Kit contacts the man tasked with wiping Gary's phone data and asks him to forward any information to his personal email address.
Gary's Sacrifice
Gary, who has a history of violence and has covered up murders before, begs Sarah to keep quiet, fearing he could go to prison. Meanwhile, Gary's marriage to Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) is falling apart after Maria wrongly accused Sarah of cheating with Gary. Despite Gary's loyalty, Sarah appears ready to let him take the fall. DC McLaughlin (Michelle Tate) tells Lisa (Vicky Myers) that they are ready to arrest Theo's murderer, suggesting Sarah has given Gary a one-way ticket to a jail cell, courtesy of Kit.
What's Next?
Viewers are left wondering if Sarah will actually frame the man who covered for her in her darkest hour. The proposal from Kit hangs in the balance as Sarah's confession changes everything. Coronation Street continues this week on ITV.
