A murder investigation is underway after a 24-year-old e-bike rider died in a collision with a moped that is believed to have been chasing him in West London. The Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident took place in North Kensington at approximately 1am on Friday, September 25.
Emergency response and victim details
Officers were alerted to reports of a man found seriously injured on North Pole Road around 20 minutes after the initial collision. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attended the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead at the location. The man has not yet been formally identified or pictured.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil John, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at what is a very difficult time. We have launched a full investigation and are working hard to get answers and establish exactly what happened. Our team are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry, including efforts to identify and trace the rider of the moped."
Appeal for witnesses and evidence
The moped rider remains at large, and investigators are appealing for anyone with information about the crash or the events leading up to it to come forward. DCI John added: "As part of this, we’re urging anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the e-bike or the moped to get in touch with us as soon as possible. If you have any information that could help, please come forward."
The entirety of North Pole Road was cordoned off throughout Friday as forensic teams examined the area. Photographs from the scene show officers in protective clothing working at the junction of Latimer Road, where a tent had been set up to preserve evidence. The e-bike involved in the collision was seen strewn on the ground.
