Fabrizio Romano Dismisses Chelsea's £130m Bid for Real Madrid Star Vinicius Jr
Romano: Chelsea have not bid for Vinicius Junior

Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano has categorically denied sensational reports that Chelsea have tabled a massive £130 million bid for Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior.

Romano's Emphatic Denial on Vinicius Links

The rumour mill went into overdrive this week with claims that the Premier League club had made a huge offer for the Brazilian superstar, who has contributed over 200 goals and assists for the Spanish giants. However, Romano has poured cold water on the speculation, stating there is no truth to the story.

"I don't even know where the story is coming from," Romano said on his YouTube channel. "Chelsea have not sent any bid for Vinicius Junior. Chelsea are not planning to send any bid for Vinicius Junior. Chelsea are not in negotiations for Vinicius Junior."

He added that the player himself is not planning a January exit and that the situation is "completely, completely not true". Romano emphasised that Real Madrid's priority is to secure a new contract for the 25-year-old as soon as possible.

Chelsea's Struggles and Managerial Change

The rumours emerged during a turbulent period for Chelsea. The Blues, who recently appointed Liam Rosenior as their new manager following his departure from Hull City, are languishing in eighth place in the Premier League.

Their 2-1 defeat to Fulham on Wednesday left them three points off the top four, intensifying the pressure to strengthen the squad this January. The club has not won a league match since a 2-0 victory over Everton on 13th December.

While a move for a global star like Vinicius Jr appears fanciful, the need for added attacking threat is clear. Rosenior is reportedly keen to make Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi his first signing, but offensive reinforcements are also believed to be on the agenda.

What About the Morgan Rogers Link?

Separate reports have also linked Chelsea with a similarly priced move for Aston Villa's English forward Morgan Rogers. The 23-year-old has enjoyed a standout season and is rivalling Chelsea's own Cole Palmer for a spot in the England squad.

While Romano specifically addressed and dismissed the Vinicius story, the persistent links to Rogers suggest Chelsea's recruitment team is actively exploring options to revitalise their frontline. Whether it's new signings or a new manager's ideas, Chelsea need to find answers quickly to salvage their season and Champions League ambitions.
