Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed a significant injury boost ahead of their Champions League final against Arsenal later this month. The defending champions secured their place in the final after overcoming Bayern Munich 6-5 on aggregate in the semi-finals. Luis Enrique's side will face the Gunners, who reached their first Champions League final since 2006 after defeating Atletico Madrid.
Before the European showdown, PSG still have domestic duties, needing only a point against second-place Lens on Wednesday to clinch the Ligue 1 title. In a major boost for the club, Achraf Hakimi returned to training on Tuesday. The Morocco international had been sidelined with a thigh injury sustained during the first leg of the semi-final against Bayern Munich. There were fears the right-back might miss the rest of the season and even the World Cup, but the club confirmed that Hakimi, along with Lucas Chevalier and Quentin Ndjantou, has resumed individual training outdoors.
However, PSG also announced that midfielder Kang-In Lee is set for a spell on the sidelines after sustaining an ankle injury in the 1-0 win over Brest last weekend. The club stated that Lee will train indoors over the next few days. Additionally, Willian Pacho, Nuno Mendes, and Warren Zaire-Emery continue their rehabilitation from respective injuries.
Arsenal's Defensive Crisis
Arsenal, meanwhile, are dealing with a growing defensive crisis. Ben White and Riccardo Calafiori have joined Jurrien Timber and Mikel Merino on the injury list. In their 1-0 win over West Ham on Sunday, Declan Rice was forced to play as a makeshift right-back. Cristhian Mosquera is expected to deputize in that role when Arsenal host Burnley next Monday.
The Champions League final promises to be a thrilling encounter, with both teams facing key injury concerns. PSG's boost with Hakimi's return could prove crucial, while Arsenal will hope to manage their defensive issues ahead of the showpiece event.
