WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman has opened up about his long-term plans for a semi-retirement phase, revealing a vision that extends far beyond the wrestling ring. In an exclusive interview at WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, during the WWE 2K26 Creatorfest, the 60-year-old innovator shared insights into his future while emphasizing his ongoing commitment to the industry.
Heyman's Semi-Retirement Vision
Heyman, known for his roles as The Vision's leader and a creative force behind WWE, outlined a semi-retirement that involves stepping back from WWE but not from work entirely. He envisions splitting his time between luxury locations like Costa Rica or an Italian villa and engaging in projects such as writing, producing, and directing movies, launching streaming shows, and entering the podcast business. 'Semi retirement just means semi retirement from WWE, but I mean, we're talking at least 15 years from now,' he stated, highlighting that this shift is not imminent.
Mentoring the Next Generation
Heyman expressed pride in his current proteges, including Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Austin Theory, and Logan Paul, whom he believes will dominate WrestleMania for the next two decades. 'The people that I am surrounded by now will be the dominant main eventers of WrestleMania for at least the next generation,' he said, underscoring his role in preparing them for main event status. This mentorship is part of his legacy, ensuring his influence persists even as he reduces his WWE involvement.
Beyond Wrestling: Creative Ventures
Heyman's work extends beyond weekly appearances on Netflix's Raw; he is deeply involved in creative aspects, including the WWE 2K26 video game. He contributes to story modes and on-screen content, such as backing Bron Breakker and Jordynne Grace in the MyRise campaigns. He sees video games as a crucial platform to connect with younger audiences. 'The platform with which to connect with a younger generation exists within video games,' he explained, noting that it allows him to express creativity and share wisdom as 'the GOAT, Paul Heyman.'
Current Challenges and Future Matchups
Despite his forward-looking plans, Heyman faces immediate challenges with injuries affecting The Vision members, including Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker. With Seth Rollins also sidelined, only Austin Theory and Logan Paul remain active. When asked about rumors of a Logan Paul versus Bad Bunny match at WrestleMania, Heyman dismissed the speculation, insisting that any Logan Paul matchup is intriguing and worthy of a main event spot. 'I find any match that Logan Paul is in to be extremely interesting,' he asserted.
Heyman's Unwavering Drive
Heyman, who thrives in chaos, admitted that contemplating slowing down feels unfathomable now. 'I'm just getting started at this,' he declared with bravado, suggesting he might only take one day off per year in the future. His semi-retirement plans reflect a desire for variety and new creative outlets rather than a complete withdrawal from work.
WWE 2K26 is set for release on March 13, with early editions available from March 6, featuring CM Punk on the cover. Heyman's interview underscores his enduring impact on wrestling and his strategic approach to transitioning into new ventures while maintaining his legendary status.
