Palhinha Wants to Stay at Tottenham After Relegation Escape

João Palhinha scored the decisive goal for Tottenham Hotspur against Everton on Sunday, securing the club's Premier League survival. The Portuguese midfielder, who has been on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich, expressed his desire to stay at the club permanently.

Palhinha's Impact at Tottenham

Palhinha's winner against Everton ensured Spurs finished two points clear of West Ham, who occupied the final relegation spot. The 28-year-old has been a key figure since joining on loan, and Tottenham have an option to make the deal permanent for €30 million (£26 million). Manager Roberto De Zerbi has already stated he "100%" wants the transfer to happen.

Palhinha's Feelings on Staying

Speaking after the match, Palhinha said: "Since the first day I arrived I feel at home. From the supporters, the crowd. Top club. Who doesn't want to play for Tottenham and stay here? I have everything here. But this is like a marriage. What I can say to you is I would really like to be here and I enjoy it a lot this season with this club – even with it being a tough season."

Looking Ahead

Spurs' survival was secured after an SOS call to De Zerbi, who earned 11 points from seven games. Palhinha is optimistic about the future. "I think the next season will hopefully be really different and I truly believe," he said. "This season will help Tottenham for the future. Analyse the season, what we did wrong, what we did well and it will be a big improvement and a big relief after the season."

The midfielder's comments come as Tottenham look to rebuild after a difficult campaign. With Palhinha keen to stay and the club holding a purchase option, a permanent deal appears likely.
