Kylian Mbappe has declared he is hungry for a Golden Boot battle with Lionel Messi at the World Cup, and has been singing Les Bleus in training. The Paris Saint-Germain forward, who has scored eight goals in his last eight international appearances, is determined to lead France to glory in Qatar.
Mbappe's Ambition for Top Scorer
Speaking to reporters, Mbappe said: 'I am very hungry for the Golden Boot. It is a personal objective, but the team comes first. If I can help France win and also be the top scorer, that would be perfect.' He acknowledged Messi as a rival, saying: 'Messi is always there, he is a great player. It would be a nice battle.'
Singing Les Bleus
Mbappe also revealed he has been singing the French national anthem, Les Bleus, in training to build team spirit. 'I sing it often, it gives me chills. It reminds me of the pride of representing France,' he said. The 23-year-old was a key member of the 2018 World Cup-winning squad and is now seen as the team's leader.
France's World Cup Campaign
France begin their World Cup campaign against Australia on November 22. Mbappe is expected to play a central role as they aim to become the first team to retain the title since Brazil in 1962. He has scored 28 goals in 59 appearances for Les Bleus.
