Luke Littler Attracts Meta to Darts with Oakley Glasses Partnership
Two-time darts world champion Luke Littler has secured a new sponsorship deal with Oakley Meta glasses, marking tech giant Meta's entry into the darts market. The partnership was showcased in a social media video where Littler wore the high-tech glasses to record his practice throws, providing a fresh perspective on his technique.
High-Tech Training Tool for Champion Thrower
Littler, whose rapid rise has significantly boosted darts' popularity, praised the Oakley Meta glasses as "class for training." He explained how the technology allows him to review his throws in detail, saying, "I get to properly watch back how my darts fly so I can fine-tune my throwing technique and get it spot-on for competition season."
The Warrington-based athlete emphasised that while he typically analyses his 180s, averages, and finishing, the glasses offer a new viewpoint: "With the Oakley Meta glasses I can go back and see what's going right and see what's going wrong with my throw from a new perspective so I can change my technique for the future."
Growing Portfolio of Prestigious Partnerships
This latest deal sees Oakley and Meta join an impressive list of sponsors in Littler's portfolio, which includes Xbox, fast fashion brand Boohoo, Target Darts, KP Nuts, Sky Sports, and Riyadh Season. The teenager's distinctive purple match shirts have become a canvas for these diverse brand partnerships.
Littler's meteoric rise over the past two years has attracted increasingly prestigious brands. Equipment manufacturer Target Darts has supported him since before his professional breakthrough and reportedly signed a 10-year management deal worth £20 million last year. Xbox quickly partnered with the gaming enthusiast, while darts broadcaster Sky and snack brand KP have also secured prominent placements.
The Saudi entertainment brand Riyadh Season, which promotes a new tournament in the country, has additionally contracted with the darts champion. This expanding sponsorship portfolio reflects Littler's growing influence in the sport.
Recent Competitive Performance
Littler successfully defended his world title at Alexandra Palace last month and followed this achievement with a victory at the World Masters. However, he experienced a setback last week with a loss in his opening Premier League match, demonstrating the ongoing challenges of maintaining top form in professional darts.
The integration of Meta's technology through Oakley glasses represents a significant development in sports training methods, potentially influencing how athletes across various disciplines analyse and improve their performance through advanced visual feedback systems.
